Corp Climate Literacy Program
The corp climate literacy solution is an inter-sectoral fellowship that empowers corp members (young people undergoing national service or experiencing a gap year) with climate literacy skills and support needed to become change-makers and make impact. The program runs on a train-the-trainer model built on values like collaboration and shared ownership.

Phase 3 – Capstone Implementation
Fellows implement their capstone projects in their communities with mentorship.
Phase 4 – Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Closure
Monitor progress, evaluate impact, document key learnings, and close the program with insights to inform the future.

According to the United Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Africa
contributes only 2-3% of global greenhouse gas emissions but suffers disproportionately from climate change.
In 2022, 33 out of the 36 states were affected by flooding. The floods destroyed over 440,000 hectares of farmland, displaced around 1.4 million people, and caused 662+ deaths, with estimated direct economic damages of US$ 6.68 billion.
According to a researcher, Elochukwu Anieze (Centre for Climate Change & Development, F.U. Ebonyi), climate change literacy is declining among Nigerian youths. He also points that “over 60 per cent of Nigerians were unaware of climate change.” More than 70% of young Nigerians are under 30, which makes the climate literacy gap further worrying.
Young Nigerian graduates aged under 30 are mobilized for a one year national service program. The program encourages community service in line with the United Nations goals. However, development financing models makes it hard for young people to access financing to make impact. When I was a corp member, I got 50+ rejection emails before my first grant. The corp climate literacy solution is an inter-sectoral fellowship that empowers corp members with climate literacy skills and support needed to become change-makers and make impact. The program runs on a train-the-trainer model built on values like collaboration and shared ownership.

Cohort 1 Impact
The first cohort of the program impacted 14 corp members and over 635 children and youth across 10 communities including schools, an orphanage and religious bodies with climate literacy skills.
